Haven’t noted yet that Ned “King of the FAs” Sonntag has begun blogging art and commentary for Cape Cod Today, but today’s art posting – a whimsical/sexy cover of his late wife Katy done for Screw in the early eighties – has prompted me to get on the keyb and do that very thing. Rearranging shelves in the study this week (oh yeh, the life of a writer is an exciting one!), I came upon a folder holding several old manuscripts written in the early days of my free-lance smut-peddlin’ career. The majority of ‘em were tales that have already been prettied up and posted on the Dimensions Online “Fat Magic” page, but, nestled within ‘em, were a few as-yet-un-webbed tales. One of ‘em, “The Librarian,” can barely be called a story – it’s basically just a quick excuse for a mild BBSex scene – but I’m fond of its simple-minded little self. So if you’ve got time for quick read, why not check out this BUF tale from (yikes!) 1988, complete with uncredited Vic Martin graphic?

Left my job yesterday. After more than a decade with the same company, I was brutally made aware that I was no longer compatible with the place where I worked. I shouldn’t have been surprised by the way it played out – in truth, I haven’t been happy at my job for at least two years and had been making feeble moves toward looking somewhere else – but I’m still feeling gob-smacked by it all. In America, after all, our jobs are a big part of what we are.

Well, the issue’s been forced, for better or worse (right now, it feels like worse), and I suspect I’m gonna be pretty damn useless over the next couple days. My apologies to my small readership ahead of time . . .

Tina Toons

With Vic Martin’s “Joy Gorge” having reached its slapdash conclusion, I put together the start of a page devoted to her successor in the pages of BUF, Martin’s “Titanic Tina.” Though the brunette BBBabe’s continuing adventures initially commenced right after Joy’s, the cartoonist quickly abandoned even the pretense of story continuity by turning the strip into an ongoing series of theme-based gag pages (Tina as an artist’s model, Tina down in Rio, et al). I’ve started by posting some samples of the joke-page Tina, though at some point I fully intend to also put up her four-issue continuity, for those story fiends among us who just have to know what happened next. (Need to figure out where I put my copy of BUF with Part Three in it first.) In the meantime, why not check out the first three samples of Martin’s sexy gag strips: proof that you don’t have to been a skinny, big-breasted bimbo to be the object of an obvious leering magazine sex gag – you kin be a fat big-breasted bimbo, too! That’s the glory of America . . .
